I was commissioned to make a poster for the short film "Playthings," a film where a group of friends reconnect at the house of the wealthy antagonist with whom they had had a turbulent relationship. Through the course of their dinner, the antagonist offers them drugged wine and makes subtle remarks to target the group's insecurities and break them down.

For this poster, I wanted to represent the subtle manipulation of insecurities while still playing into the illusion of elegance. My original idea was to have these little shiny silver objects wrapped up in strings, like those that control puppets, and position them with either the wine bottle or the wine glass. Additionally, stills from the film would be put in the background to add to the "hallucinogenic" feeling. Through some workshopping, we ended up changing the strings to webs, to further emphasize the calculated nature of the manipulation.
