Dimension: 17 in. x 15 in. x 2 in.
Medium/material: Ink, Marker, and Acrylic Paint
The materials presented in this piece explore the way the meaning of works change once they reach the audience. They take sentences written by me and break them up, allowing them to be free for the audience to manipulate as they please. The symbol depicted is the veve of Voodoo lwa Papa Legba. A master of communication who can speak all languages.

The piece expands upon my previous work with the "poetry cards" project, allowing me, the artist, and the audience to observe the way a piece's message changes once it reaches the audience. Although the words on the back of the cards came from a sentence I created, the words exist on their own once they reach the audience, and thus they create their own meaning out of them whether that be through the formation of a sentence or a more ritualistic tarot-like approach.
